A big strategic lesson from The Covid crisis is that the pandemic rewarded those that were prepared and hammered those that were not. Like human death this was a corporate leveler.
If you were largely digital you scored. If not you suffered.
If you had low gearing or had conserved cash Then you had ammo to survive.
If you had inbuilt agility or innovative teams then you could rapidly pivot. If not you stagnated and sunk
If you were slow and monolithic and had an outdated business model then it would be exposed and you would rapidly lose your reason for existing
Covid 19 is like an African bushfire. It runs wild and destroys the weak and vulnerable while damaging even the strong. But on its passing a new stronger veld emerges from burning away the deadwood.
So the trick is to hunker down and be prepared to act fast to seize new opportunities as they arise.
This is a corporate extinction level event. These are not necessarily bad things. It’s why humans exist and dinosaurs don’t.
