Blackberry was a victim of the third wave of Disruption. Namely “Decoupling” that commenced in 2007. The first two waves of disruption were Dis-aggregation commencing in 1994 and disintermediation commencing in 2000.
The separation of device from operating system from functions / applications spelled the end of Blackberry, Motorola, Ericsson and Nokia.
